Democracy, parliamentarism and legitimacy
13-14 December 2013, Luxembourg’ Chamber of Deputies
The conference has the objective of bringing together researchers from the main research centers and networks on legislative studies to create an inventory of knowledge, through the comparison of different scientific approaches and an analysis of their results. The symposium aims at giving a contribution to the increase of knowledge on the functioning of parliamentarism both in the national and European decision-making process from a comparative standpoint.
- Deputies and legislative staff: from the institutionalization of Parliaments (nineteenth century) to contemporary rationalized parliamentarism
- Parliamentary scrutiny on European and fiscal policies
- The national Parliaments in the EU decision-making process
- Modes of interaction and legislative information between Parliaments and citizens
- Elections, political parties and parliamentary groups: which reforms for the representative democracy?
The working languages are English and French. Simultaneous translation from French to English is provided. The conference acts will be published both in English and French in the collection of parliamentary studies from Larcier in November 2014.
